Body Joint Maintenance

A lot of friends that are in my age demographic have joint issues that prevent them from enjoying life to the fullest, which is sad to see.  I use the following to keep myself in the best shape possible as I near my 7th decade.

 

Food/drink/supplements:

  • water (the daily amount is determined by dividing your body weight by 20 to get the number of 8-ounce glasses to drink in a day and then adding back for any coffee, tea, carbonated drinks, or alcohol)
  • turmeric (Golden Milk which includes ginger and black pepper)
  • calcium magnesium
  • Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin
  • Udo’s or fish oil
  • ginger
  • foods (salmon, oatmeal, kale, avocado, pistachios)
  • arnica
  • Nature’s gel

 

Treatments:

  • massage
  • acupuncture
  • active release
  • chiropractic (NUCCA method)
  • Prolotherapy injections

 

Healing activities:

  • stretching
  • breathing (nasal)
  • yoga (Yin, Gentle, Restorative)
  • meditation
  • ball rolling (small lacrosse type ball to work into the joints)
  • rest/sleep

 

Low impact sporting activities:

  • walking
  • rollerblading
  • cruiser bike
  • paddleboarding
  • pickleball
  • golf
  • swimming
  • skating
  • cross country skiing
  • weight lifting
  • wake surfing
  • curling
  • rowing/paddling
