Spiritual Healing Interview

When and why did you get interested in health and wellness?

I first became interested in health and wellness after a health crisis in my early 20’s. I began eating a vegetarian diet, practicing kundalini yoga, using natural products and meditating every day. I was seeing an amazing Naturopath at the time in Vancouver and using homepathic medicine and acupuncture to heal my body. It was during that season of my life I discovered Reiki, which is now one of my greatest passions and teachers.

What healing modalities are you in to?

I practice Reiki, tarot readings, shamanic healing and plant medicine. For my own body, I typically enjoy yin yoga, acupuncture, and massage therapy.

How would you explain tarot card reading and its benefits?

Tarot readings are a snapshot into ones subconscious at a particular moment in time. It allows you to access the patterns at work in your life and how to move through fears, hopes, and desires. Every reading is different, and it can be used as a powerful tool to gain clarity into one’s experience.

How would you explain Reiki and its benefits?

Reiki is a Japanese healing modality that balances chakras, removes blockages and brings harmony back into the body, mind, and soul. It works on a multidimensional level to heal. Typically, a session lasts for about an hour. It can be used to treat depression, anxiety, addictions, negative patterns, dis-ease and so much more.

What do you enjoy most about being in the health and wellness business?

I enjoy meeting like-minded people. It’s refreshing to connect with a community of people who commit to their own healing and self-work. I also enjoy experiencing other modalities and learning about myself within each experience.

What are the challenges of building your business?

The challenges of building a business based around a spiritual practice is the perception of it being a luxury. Self-care is the most important part of our experience in the body, and therefore, it is necessary to commit to our well-being. Energy work is a beautiful way to assist with self-care, however, it is not insurable at this moment in time. I would LOVE to see it integrated into the healthcare system and benefit packages in the future.

Have you seen any major shifts in the health and wellness industry over the past decade?

Yes, I have noticed a major shift in perception around wellness in the past few years especially. People are more conscious as to what they’re putting in their body, how they’re caring for it, and so on. The status quo of health and wellness is ever-evolving, and it’s interesting to see how it will shift in the future.

What brought you joy this week?

A beautiful friend of mine and talented photographer brought me a piece of her art to hang above my altar. That brought me great joy, as I love surrounding myself with offerings from my dear community. And my daughter, she always brings me joy!
